Sounds of the Season
Christmas time is unique in the fact that it has music all it’s own. How many other holidays can you think of that have it’s own special music? There are some patriotic holidays that have music and songs that we commonly hear, but they are not strictly for or about that particular holiday.
This is one of the things that I love about Christmas. It is just another way that we can see how special this time of year really is. The songs can hit close to home and tug at the heart strings of even the coldest and hardest Scrooge.
I wanted to take this opportunity to offer a few recommendations on some of my favorite Christmas albums. These are some of my favorites. I would like to point out that I have absolutely no financial connection with any of these recommendations. (I wish I did!) I just thought it would be fun to point out a few that my family and I really enjoy.
Some of these recommendations are complete albums and some are simply songs. Whichever they are, these are my family’s go-to hits.
Sidewalk Prophets: “Merry Christmas to You”
This album sits at the top of our list. Especially for my wife. Honestly, I can’t think of a bad song on the entire CD.
Brad Paisley: “Christmas”
My son really enjoys this album. Several funny little songs.
Go Fish Guys: “Snow”
This group is considered a children’s music group but, parents I dare you to not bounce to the beat. I love this album. It contains songs like “Christmas with a Capital C” and “It’s About the Cross”. Definitely a must-listen.
MercyMe: “The Christmas Sessions”
What’s not to love? MercyMe singing the Charlie Brown Christmas Song. I also love the song “Joseph’s Lullaby”.
Casting Crowns: “Peace of Earth”
One of our all-time favorite groups. Contains a lot of Christmas classics.
NEEDTOBREATHE: “Go Tell it on the Mountain”
This is just a single song but it is my absolute favorite version of this Christmas classic.
All these albums/songs can be found on iTunes, Amazon, etc. I hope you give them a listen and they can add to your Christmas holiday.
Merry Christmas!
