About a Father’s Love

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.” 1 John 3:1

Anybody that knows me knows that I am a George Strait fan. I love his style of music. I love the sound. The man stands on the stage with his guitar and does his thing. Natural God-given talent. No need for any computerized help with vocals, and no need for any pyrotechnics for his show. I will admit that I am not a fan of all his lyric content but there are a lot of songs that are great. One of those such songs is “Love Without End, Amen”.

At the time of writing this blog, we just celebrated Father’s Day. I have been blessed to be a father since 2003. It gives Father’s Day a whole new meaning for me. I never knew the feelings you could have for another person like you have as a father. To have a love that you know that you would give anything, anytime, anywhere for this innocent helpless person.

I believe becoming a father has helped me in understanding a little better how God sees us. In the song I mentioned above, it talks about a little boy afraid of having to tell his daddy that he got in trouble at school. He knew the rule was trouble at school was trouble at home. I can definitely relate because that was the rule for me growing up. Anyway, in the song, the little boy is waiting for his punishment when his dad tells him about the love of a father for his child no matter what his child has done. The song goes on and here’s the third verse of the song:

“Last night, I dreamed I’d died and stood outside those pearly gates; When suddenly I realized there must be some mistake; If they know half the things I’ve done they’ll never let me in; And then somewhere from the other side, I heard these words again; And they said let me tell you a secret about a father’s love; A secret that my daddy said was just between us; You see daddies don’t love their children every now and then; It’s a love without end, amen.”

This a perfect way of describing God’s love for His children. If you are a child of His, there is nothing you can do or say that will change that. It is a love without end, amen.
